老外说 Cheers 不一定是要跟你“干杯”，理解错了很尴尬！

Cheers 确实有“干杯”的意思，但不是什么语境都可以翻译成“干杯”，学习一下cheers 还有什么意思吧~

可能是文化不同，英国人说“谢谢”更多的是用 cheers。估计是因为他们觉得 thanks 太正式了，所以用语气更加轻松的 cheers。就像我们感谢别人时，如果字正腔圆地说“谢谢”，反而过于正式，让人觉得生疏，如果改成“谢啦”，则随意很多，亲近很多。

除了 cheers、thanks，表达感谢还可以说 thanks a ton、thanks a million。ton /tʌn/ 是“吨”的意思，一吨和一百万都很多，所以 thanks a million 和 thanks a ton 意思是“非常感谢、万分感谢”，比 thanks 的程度更深。

cheers 在美式英语中只有“干杯”一个意思，但在英国，它还常常被用来表示“再见”。所以 Cheers, see you tomorrow 意思就是“拜拜，明天见”。

除了 cheers，和人分别时还可以说 take care、have a good one、peace out。take care 是“小心”的意思，但如果是分别时说，那就表示“保重、珍重”。而 have a good one 和 have a good day 意思一样，表示“祝你有愉快的一天”。peace out 也是固定表达，表示“再见”。

提议为...干杯，给...敬一杯

propose /prə'pəʊz/ 表示“提议”，toast /təʊst/ 是“祝酒，干杯”的意思，propose a toast to... 意思就是“提议为了...干杯，给...敬一杯”。一般聚会时，老外想邀请大家一起干杯，就会说 I'd like to propose a toast to...

一口闷

这个表达可别和 bottom up 搞混了哦。bottoms up 是喝酒的时候让别人把这杯喝完时说的，相当于中文里的“一口闷，干了”。但 bottom up 意思是“自下而上”，bottom 加没加 s 要看清哦~

喝酒的时候，想敬谁一杯，可以用 to 后面直接加上要敬的那个人。“敬我的父母”就可以说 to my parents，或者也可以说 here is to my parents，这里的 here 可以理解为“这杯酒”。

当然，如果敬的是健康、成功等等，不是某个人，也可以用这两个表达，“敬健康”就是 to health。

例句：

Here is to my parents. I thank them for raising me.

这杯敬我的父母，谢谢他们把我养大。

raise one's glass to...

为了...举杯

这里的 raise /reɪz/ 表示“举起”，glass 也不是“玻璃”，而表示“酒杯”。虽然老外喝不同的酒用不同的杯子，但大多数酒杯都用了 glass 这个单词。“啤酒杯”是 beer glass，“红酒杯”是 wine glass，中国喝白酒的小杯子他们叫“烈酒杯”，英文叫 shot glass。

raise one's glass to... 意思就是“举杯敬...，为了...举杯”。
